Book cover size brief checklist
Turn the calculator result into the details a cover designer needs.
A checklist for turning a book spine calculation into a practical cover brief for a designer or print setup.
Include the full spread
A useful cover brief includes front cover, back cover, spine, trim size, bleed, and any printer-specific safe areas.
- Share the calculated spine width and full cover dimensions.
- Name the trim size and binding type.
- Attach the official template when the printer provides one.
Keep assumptions visible
A brief is easier to check when it shows the inputs used to calculate the cover size.
- Page count.
- Paper thickness per page.
- Bleed setting.
- Printer or platform.
